About Fleece & Fable
My name is Elle and I’m the Shopkeeper here at Fleece & Fable.
I grew up on a 40 acre farm in rural Canada and nature is still near and dear to my heart, which is why I chose to locate our offices & warehouse in a small village in Nova Scotia, Canada. The view from my office window is a landscape of green fields and blue skies. I see cows in the fields and the occasional tractor slowly driving down the single lane road. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
When I’m not working, I often spend time wandering through the fields and woodland surrounding our offices. I wear many of the hats at Fleece & Fable and as the main procurer of goods, I feel that a lot of the clothing I bring into the shop is inspired by nature and by my time spent outside. The colours of wildflowers growing in the fields, the falling leaves in Autumn and the apple blossoms in the spring all inform my choices for the shop, rather than what is trendy or fashionable at the moment. Now, I know none of this would be recommended in any sort of “How to Run a Clothing Business” handbook, but it feels right, so it’s how I run mine.❤️
I make it my mission to purchase the pieces for the shop from small, independent North American-based manufacturers. The majority of the manufacturers I work with are women-owned business with fewer than 10 employees, in fact one of our main manufacturers currently boasts a grand total of 5 employees!
If you ever have any questions about our clothing or if there’s something that you’ve been trying to find without any luck, feel free to send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m more than happy to answer any of your questions and sourcing hard-to-find items is something I love to do!
